The Harder They Fall Review: This is a kind of new Blaxploitation film, made mainly by and for Black audiences, this is so obvious. As a White myself, I have nothing against it, I loved the seventies Blaxploitation films, long before Spike Lee and Mario van Peebles. I loved the stories, music, atmosphere and actor such as Jim Brown, Yaphet Kotto, Paul Benjamin, Richard Roundtree. So I had the bext expectations concerning this one. I expected far far better. The story and characters are OK, I love the bad guys who are at first shown as the heroes of the scheme. I like those evil dudes, for whom it is difficult not to feel empathy. What annoys me is the directing, lousy music score, some unbearable camera angles, useless slow motion gunfights. The story is excellent, only the Black touch in a cultural way is definitely too much. This spoiled my pleasure. Idris Elba is excellent as an anti hero or bad guy, I hesitate between the two. Some sub characters are also worth watching, but the lousy directing annihilates the whole.
